In close-up photography, the use man-made objects that are geometric or have geometric shapes on or in it.  To get contrast in images shooting early morning or late in the day with a tripod is key for sharp and high contrast images.  The rust or aged subject matter offer a contrast and pleasing image like no other.  The  contrast in shape is also used.
